POND LINERS

Flexipond Liners (0.5mm thick)

Flexipond Liner

Flexipond Liner comes in all sizes to give you the greatest flexibility. Remember the simple curves are best and try to avoid irregular shapes with narrow necks, or awkward corners which cause more folds and can be difficult to edge. Flexipond Liners have been UV stabilised so the suns uv rays will not attack the liner and break its properties down causing it to split.

Obviously, the size of your pond is dependent on the dimension of your garden. Ideally, it should complement, not dominate. On the other hand, it will be the centre of attraction, so you don't want to be to cautious when settling on a size either. It also make sense to choose a spot where your pond will be clearly visible from the place where you most often sit in your garden. If it's a place which can be seen from inside your home too, then so much the better. To minimise your autumn workload, try to avoid positioning your pond close to over hanging deciduous trees or bushes whose falling leaves can rot and pollute the water. A sunny position will help to warm the water, which in turn will stimulate plant growth and fish activity. However, do remember that over half the pond's surface should be protected from direct sunlight by aquatic plants such as lilies.

Technical Info

Aqualast - Firestone Rubber Pond liners are made up from Ethylene-Propylene-Diene-Monomer (EPDM), reinforcing carbon black, fillers, process chemicals, antioxidants and vulcanising agents to give the rubber the required strength, flexibility, exposure resistance and even colour. This compound is blended and then passed through steel rollers which create the thin film of sticky, uncured rubber. Vulcanising the rubber in an autoclave (baked under pressure) sets or 'cures' the rubber into the tough elastic material we know. The vulcanisation process means that the material differs from all thermoplastic products (i.e. PVC), in that its properties are not affected by varying temperatures. The product is chemically stable and always returns to its original dimensions after stretching. The cross-linked molecular structure gives EPDM their unique properties. Ageing or changes in characteristics are negligible despite decades of exposure to the atmosphere, sunlight, UV radiation, chemical fallout, water or major temperature fluctuations.Aqulast Firestone Rubber Liners contain no plasticisers or additives which can evaporate or be washed out over the years. The strength and elasticity of the membrane remain practically unchanged for decades, without shrinkage, brittleness, melting or cracking. The membrane is equally elastic, regardless of whether the temperature is -30 C or +120 C.
